In 1898, the Atestino Don Angelo Pelà offered for use a piece of land owned by him and his brothers, which was adapted as a playground. The following year, after the division of the family's patrimonial goods, he made available eleven fields overlooking the current Viale Fiume to build the patronage, which was established with the common consent of the priests of Santa Tecla and delle Grazie. In 1902, a small library was opened, and there already existed a mimeographed magazine, produced in the summer by the boys, a music band, a gymnastics, cycling and "palla vibrata" sports society, a choral singing school, and a playschool. On Thursdays, Don Angelo held religious classes for children, students, and workers. In 1903, an evening gathering for youth was opened.
In 1905, the priests of Duomo and Grazie purchased the patronage from Don Angelo, which was at risk of being auctioned to settle the debts of his brother Benedetto (in 1911 the property would return to the brothers Angelo and Andrea for fear of the seizure of ecclesiastical goods under discussion in parliament), and on July 25, 1909, work began on the new premises, completed two years later: a central building with three floors housing the administration, school, and residence for the priests; a right wing with a portico and classrooms for after-school activities, singing school, library, and meetings; a connecting building to the portico with services.
