The meeting with Amani El Nasif offers an intense reflection on the themes of personal freedom, respect, and gender-based violence, through the direct testimony of a young woman who has transformed pain into civic engagement.
Amani El Nasif was born in Syria and now lives in Bassano del Grappa. She will share with the students and their parents her story on the delicate issue of arranged marriages and the mistreatment that women endure. A story of struggle, rebellion, rebirth, and a future told by an extraordinary girl with great strength.
Author of the books Syria mon amour (2014) and Sulla nostra pelle (2022), both published by Piemme, Amani recounts her story of forced marriage and imprisonment in Syria, experienced at only thirteen, and the long journey that led her to reclaim her freedom and rebuild her life in Italy.
In her second book, "Sulla nostra pelle," the author broadens the perspective and addresses the issue of violence against women and bullying through real-life stories, aiming to stimulate a profound reflection among young people on the values of mutual respect, courage, and solidarity.
The meeting, which will take place on November 22, particularly targets students in the second and third grades of lower secondary school, as well as their parents, with the goal of promoting awareness, dialogue, and responsibility within family and social relationships.
Amani will engage in dialogue during the meeting with journalist Nicoletta Masetto.
The meeting aims to be an opportunity to recognize the power of words and testimony as tools to combat violence and build a culture based on listening and respect for oneself and others.
The meeting, which is free of charge, is open to the public upon reservation via Eventbrite, as indicated by the QR code on the poster.
