Via Tramonte, 35 Teolo 35037 Teolo (PD)
Villa Rosa
Location: Teolo
The villa is surrounded by a meticulously maintained park adorned with fine statues and enclosed by some of the most beautiful iron gates, featuring elaborate scrollwork and intricate volutes up to the cornices.
The history of the sites recalls here the presence of the famous Roman road that wound its way around the Euganean Hills, running at their feet. It is indeed handed down that this Roman road passed through the place where Villa Rosa currently stands. For safety against banditry, during the early Middle Ages, towers were built along the foothill road that regulated traffic and were closed at night with gates. In the 14th century, it is believed that this fortified site was transformed into a villa by the Camposampiero family.
The building belonging to the Camposampiero family and passed to the Rosa family in the 17th century, was remodeled at the beginning of the 18th century on a pre-existing 16th-century structure. The facade is characterized in the central part by triple openings, which vary in shape and size across the three floors of the villa, creating a harmonious and elegant architectural rhythm. On the ground floor, the entrance portal is included in the ashlar and is positioned between two small oval windows; on the noble floor, there is a balcony overlooking the three arched portals decorated with masks at the keystone; on the second floor, square windows open under the tympanum decorated with the owners' coat of arms and topped with statues.
The villa belonged to Francesco Rosa, a wealthy merchant who purchased the Venetian noble title and married Gabriella Carla Patin, daughter of a famous Parisian doctor who taught at the University of Padua.
