Villa Monzino is located in Monterosso di Abano Terme and may have been the country house of the illustrious scholar (poet, historian, and philologist) Pietro Bembo, from which its name "Villa Bembiana" derives. The complex consists of the main building and outbuildings, and it stands on a terrace reachable via a staircase; nearby is the barchessa, while further south is the caretaker's house. The Park of Villa Bembiana, now belonging to the Municipality of Abano Terme, was particularly well-maintained at the time by the husband of Countess Monzino. Adorned with ancient statues and a large artificial basin (fish pond), it features rich vegetation, especially Mediterranean scrub and specimens of holm oak.
Villa Bembiana has existed since the beginning of the 1600s and here, in 1918, was located the Press Office of the Supreme Command, as recalled by the plaque affixed: “In this villa – the supreme War Bulletin was drafted – November 4, 1918 – summarizing the immortal sculptory – sentence of Nemesis – the triumph of Italy – over the destroyed Austria.” Bulletin no. 1268, which declared the end of World War I, was subsequently signed by Armando Diaz, guest at the Trieste hotel in Abano Terme, and received final approval from the King, staying at Villa Lispida in Monselice, and eventually signed at Villa Giusti (Padua).
Near the Villa, the Monterosso hiking trail begins, approximately 3 km long. Starting from the square of the church in Monterosso, crossing the main road, one follows the path towards the park and Villa Bembiana, and finally turns left onto via Circuito Monterosso.
