The Festival Serenissime Dimore, a project of Asolo Musica – Veneto Music under the artistic direction of Vincenzo De Vivo, returns to the Cathedral of Santa Tecla in Este with “Liturgies,” a concert entrusted to La Stagione Armonica conducted by Nicola Rampazzo.
The program, included in the “From Naples to Venice” path, narrates through sacred music the evolution of polyphonic language between Renaissance and Baroque: from the clear measure of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, with the “Missa brevis” and the famous “Sicut Cervus,” to the harmonic tensions of Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa and Pomponio Nenna, up to the dramatic nature of the “Crucifixus” by Claudio Monteverdi and the “Miserere mei, Domine” by Alessandro Scarlatti.
A musical itinerary that finds in the Cathedral of Santa Tecla an ideal frame: the building, reconstructed between 1690 and 1702 according to a design by Antonio Gaspari, in fact belongs to the same historical season to which the concert arrives. A dialogue between music, architecture, and art, from Renaissance rigor to the new Baroque sensibility.
