The Castelletto della Torre del Soccorso is one of the best-preserved elements of the medieval fortified system of Este and one of the two surviving towers of the ancient Carrarese Castle (1339–1340). The complex maintains its original structure, with an outer courtyard, defensive enclosure, side tower, and the majestic keep, which today stands 29 meters high thanks to a Venetian elevation.
With thick walls and four internal floors, the tower was the last defensive stronghold of the city: in case of attack, soldiers would take refuge there to withstand the siege. In the Venetian era, it also took on the role of a watchtower to monitor the territory and trade in the plain.
Today, the Torre del Soccorso offers one of the most captivating views of Este, ranging from the historic center to the Euganean Hills, and represents a place where history, architecture, and landscape meet.
