Chiesa di Santa Maria a Terradura

Terradura is first mentioned as an ecclesiastical seat in two notarial acts from 1154 and 1179. In 1886, the parish church was restored and on that occasion changed its title from Santa Maria to the dedication to the Immaculate Conception. In 1912, restoration and expansion works were inaugurated. The parish church of Terradura houses a painting depicting the Last Supper (in the photo) dating back to the second half of the sixteenth century. A letter kept in the parish archive revealed the name of its author: the Venetian painter Giovanni De Mio Fratina, active between Vicenza, Venice, and Milan during the last thirty years of the 16th century. Also valuable is the painting by Giovanni Battista Bissoni representing the Nativity of Mary dating back to the first quarter of the seventeenth century. In the presbytery is the oil painting of the Adoration of the Magi, created by the painter Solone Viganoni in 1863. He is also the author of the canvas with the Madonna with Child and Saints Dominic, Catherine of Siena, Francis, John the Baptist, and a Devotee placed on the altar of Our Lady of the Rosary, dating back to 1859.
