Zona archeologica Neroniane

Location: Montegrotto Terme

A sud est dell'abitato lungo la via ferroviaria, in via Neroniana, affiorano numerosi materiali frammentari di età romana:tessere musive, tegole, mattoni, utensili d'uso domestico come stoviglie da cucian.Fra i ritrovamenti va segnalato un esmplare integro raffigurante una maschera tragica.Sono stati individuati tre gruppi di manufatti tra i quali non è stato possibile stabilire delle connessioni:un vasto ambiente nel margine orientale del terreno;nella parte centrale una complessa serie di ambienti alcuni dei quali aperti su di un lungo portico orientato nord-sud articolato in una serie di nicchie rettangolari e semicircolari;al limite occidentale del terreno una grande esedra, apparentemente isolata dalle altre strutture.Si può interpretare l'intero complesso come un impianto termale pubblico ed ad una ricca residenza privata collocabile cronologicamente nel I sec. a.C.
