According to archaeological sources, the ancient lakeside sanctuary, frequented by Venetian peoples between the end of the 8th and the 3rd century BC, was located right in Montegrotto Terme, in the area between Monte Castello and the Colle di San Pietro Montagnon. The findings on Viale Stazione represent only a tiny part of the rich imperial spa location, certainly one of the most representative of the X Regio Venetia et Istria. The spa center survived the fall of the Roman Empire and continued to be frequented until the 6th century AD. Subsequently, the entire area fell into crisis, and information about the baths became quite fragmentary. Starting from the 15th century, with the arrival of the nobility of the Serenissima, they returned to their former mondaine splendor of healing and leisure.
