Villa Vigna Contarena is located in the heart of Este next to the walls of the Carrarese Castle.
The villa was built in the 14th century by the noble Venetian family of Contarini degli Scrigni as a hunting lodge and event venue.
The design of the main building is by architect Vincenzo Scamozzi, but the structure was expanded in various phases until the construction of the "Secret Garden" in the 17th century, one of the few Persian-style gardens in Italy.
