A place out of time in the Venetian countryside, the Abbey of Santa Maria di Carceri tells centuries of history among pilgrims, monks, and culture. Already in the 12th century, it welcomed travelers heading to Rome; with Augustinians and Camaldolese, it became a lively center rich in knowledge. For centuries, it was an important cultural hub in dialogue with the University of Padua, until its suppression in 1690.
The visit covers the main spaces: Portichetto, Foresteria, Church, Choir, Baptistery, Augustinian Cloister, Garden of Fragrances, Loggia of the Camaldolese Cloister, and Hall of Frescoes, the old library, and concludes with a final toast.
Duration: 1h30. Meeting point: Viale Camaldoli 2, Carceri.
Cost: 14€ adults; free for those under 16 and for people with disabilities.
