In the north-eastern corner of the 14th-century Este city walls, the complex of the Porta and the Torre del Soccorso can be found, among the structures of greatest historical and architectural interest in the area of the Castello Carrarese.
The name derives from the presence of an escape route leading to the hill behind. Even today, the complex has an articulated structure and maintains a fully medieval appearance.
