The Carrarese Castle of Este overlooks the city with its long 14th-century walls, a legacy of the Da Carrara lordship. Inside the complex, two symbolic structures stand out: the Keep, the main tower and strategic control point over the plain, and the Tower of Rescue, positioned at the opposite extremity as a defensive outpost and escape route in case of siege. Together, they tell the military and political history of Este in the Middle Ages, today offering a suggestive journey through fortified architecture, panoramas, and historical memory.
