The Ca' d'Este Castle overlooks the city with its long fourteenth-century walls, a legacy of the Da Carrara rule. Inside the complex, two symbolic structures stand out: the Tower Keep, the main tower and strategic control point over the plain, and the Tower of Rescue, located at the opposite end as a defensive outpost and escape route in case of siege. Together, they tell the military and political history of Este in the Middle Ages, offering a suggestive path through fortified architecture, panoramas, and historical memory.
The 1st and 2nd Sunday of the month, it is possible to visit the Towers of the Castle for free; to request a guided tour, the cost is € 3.00/person.
