The Carrarese Castle of Este dominates the city with its long 14th-century defensive walls, a legacy of the Da Carrara dynasty. Inside the complex, two symbolic structures stand out: the Keep, the main tower and a strategic control point over the plain, and the Tower of Rescue, located at the opposite end as a defensive stronghold and escape route in case of siege. Together, they tell the military and political history of Este in the Middle Ages, offering today a captivating path among fortified architecture, panoramas, and historical memory.
