The City of Este commemorates Umberto Campagnolo, philosopher, jurist, and European intellectual born in Este, on the fiftieth anniversary of his passing.
The commemorative conference “Umberto Campagnolo. Europe, Culture, Peace,” scheduled to take place in the Beatrice Hall of the Cloister of Consolations, will be an opportunity to rediscover the thought and cultural legacy of a figure profoundly engaged with the themes of dialogue, freedom of culture, Europe, and peace.
The afternoon session “Man, History, and Ideas,” open to the public from 4.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., will feature the contributions of Fabio Guidali, Massimo Cacciari, Matteo Campagnolo, Michèle Favreau, and Lorenzo Franchini, coordinated by Francesco Jori and Giuseppe Maria Toscano.
A moment for in-depth discussion and reflection on the relevance of Campagnolo's ideas and the value of culture as a tool for dialogue between peoples.
Admission is free. A debate with the public is scheduled at 7.00 p.m.
