On the olive-covered mountains of Palestine, the Israeli army demolishes houses and arrests anyone who resists. The last bastion, before rage and resignation, is Basem El-Saleh, a language professor who has spent some years in prison for insubordination. In the shadow of a divorce and an impossible grief, the death of his son, he educates his students like a father. Together with Lisa, an English volunteer who works on the reintegration of incarcerated minors, he does what he can against centuries-old violence. Then one day one of his boys ends up murdered by a settler. Basem puts down the books and picks up the gun.
