In the heart of Este, lies the former Oratory of the Holy Spirit, now the home of the Filodrammatici theater, a historic space returned to the city thanks to the efforts of the local theater group. The building, once the seat of a religious brotherhood, stood opposite the church of San Francesco and still retains traces of its original sacred function.
Its origins are poorly documented: a historical source places it in 1692, while in 1771 the School of the Holy Spirit was relocated, marking the end of its religious use. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the building became a music center, hosting the Civic Institute "Giuseppe Farinelli," even inspiring the name of the nearby "Calle della Musica."
Today, thanks to the Filodrammatici, the space has come to life again as a theater, becoming an important cultural reference point for the city. The former oratory continues to be a meeting place for history, art, and community, where memory is renewed through the theatrical scene.
