A special opportunity to discover one of the most fascinating and lesser-known archaeological sites in the Euganean Hills: the Necropolis of Via Santo Stefano, an extraordinary testimony of the ancient Veneti civilization.
Accompanied by an archaeologist, visitors access an area that encompasses over six hundred years of history, from the earliest burials of the 8th century BC to the monumental complexes of the archaic age. The route guides visitors in discovering the evolution of the community through funerary architecture: tumuli, stone circles, cippi, and family structures that tell the stories of identity, traditions, and social hierarchies.
During the visit, lasting about an hour, it will be possible to closely observe the different types of tombs, delve into the rituals related to the afterlife, and learn about emblematic figures of prehistoric Este, such as Nerka, whose valuable burial goods are now housed at the National Atestino Museum.
From the panoramic terrace, visitors can finally admire the entire expanse of the necropolis, capturing the organization of spaces and the work of the archaeologists who have unearthed this important site.
