The Sanctuary of Madonna del Tresto is one of the most evocative places of worship in the area, born from a centuries-old tradition that intertwines faith, legend, and history. According to popular narrative, on September 21, 1468, the Virgin appeared to the boatman Giovanni Zelo, asking for the construction of a church in her honor and performing miracles that fueled local devotion.
Among the miraculous episodes handed down is that of the spring of water, which gushed forth during a severe drought in response to the prayers of the faithful: even today, the spring inside the sanctuary is a destination for pilgrimages and requests for healing.
Over the centuries, the complex has undergone transformations and expansions, while still preserving precious traces of its past, such as the two surviving wings of the ancient cloister of the Augustinians, the first guardians of the sanctuary.
Inside the church, one can admire important works of sacred art, including the altarpiece of Madonna del Tresto attributed to Jacopo da Montagnana, and the paintings dedicated to Saint Anthony and Saint Joseph by Francesco Zanella, expressions of the Venetian artistic tradition between the Seventeenth and Eighteenth centuries.
Today, the sanctuary represents a destination of great spiritual and cultural value, immersed in a context of peace and devotion, ideal for a journey through art, faith, and discovery of the Padua area.
