The term "vegro" describes an arid, rocky, and unproductive land of sedimentary origin formed by a limestone substrate, especially in flakes. A scorched meadow with discontinuous grass cover and bushes (hawthorn, broom, ...). In the Euganean Hills, the most important areas in terms of size are found at the slopes of Monte Cecilia, the southern side of Monte Calbarina, the locations Mottolone and Sassonegro. For their high function in maintaining biodiversity, the "vegri of the Euganei" have been recognized at the community level as habitats to be protected. Noteworthy are the blooms of wild orchids belonging to different genera, and, in some of them, also for the presence of Ruta Patavina.
