In the tradition of studies on Dante, Padua has never been considered a city associated with the life and works of Dante. Yet the poet gives particular attention to Padua's culture and politics. Not through vehement polemics, but through allusions, indirect discourse, and omissions.
In this way, Alighieri reveals in the Commedia a malicious attitude, transforming the city into a symbol of deceit and betrayal.
