Screening of the film "No Pain" directed by Gianni Amelio.
Davide is a thirty-something with a passion for books: he doesn’t read many but sells them in a square in Rome. His most loyal customer, Elsa, is also his accomplice; she provides him with second-hand volumes and fills him with affection and tenderness. However, something cracks on a day like any other: Davide is “delivered” suddenly, on the street, like a package, a child from North Africa, who doesn’t leave him anymore, silently following him like a faithful puppy. An accident, the rush to the hospital with the little unknown between life and death. And Davide who enters into a personal hell made of reticence, remorse, and disorientation. In the forbidden shelter of the emergency room, one night Davide meets Aminah, just arrived from Algeria on a migrant boat. She is a rain-soaked teenager, trembling, scared, and obviously expecting a child. Davide cannot help but offer her hospitality in his home. But it is just the beginning. Every evening, returning from work, Davide finds more and more unknown people in his apartment. He rebelliously resists in vain, but in the end, he is forced to give in, out of generosity or weakness. His home is no longer only his, but also belongs to those who have no roof to protect them, the many who sleep under a bridge or in a street corner. While the complaints from the neighbors send him to jail for aiding illegal immigration, Davide experiences an odyssey that is not only personal but also transforms the feelings of others.
