The Abbey of Santa Maria delle Carceri – Ancient Foresteria hosts “Accordions,” the event of the XVI edition of Music and Ancient Churches 2026.
The concert offers an original musical journey through different eras, styles, and cultures, placing the many expressive possibilities of the accordion at its center. The program ranges from contemporary music to popular tradition, from classical writing to jazz atmospheres, featuring compositions by Karl Jenkins, Lorenzo Fattambrini, César Franck, Vladislav Zolotaryov, Vyacheslav Semyonov, and Dmitrij Shostakovich.
Among the pieces in the program are Palladio, Pappòn Meme, Pastorale op. 19, the Sonata No. 3 and the Kinder Suite No. 1 by Zolotaryov, Semyonov's Bulgarian Suite, and the famous Dalla Jazz Suite No. 1 by Shostakovich.
A concert that highlights the timbral richness of the instrument and invites the audience to discover how the accordion can traverse different musical languages, creating a dialogue between tradition and contemporary influences.
