On Friday, October 23, 2026, at 9:00 p.m., at the Municipal Library of Monselice, there will be “It Was Not a Journey by Sea – Luigi Meneghello in 12 Frames”, a scenic reading dedicated to the life and works of the Vicentine writer Luigi Meneghello.
Through twelve narrative frames, the performance retraces the most significant moments of the author's life, from his childhood in Malo to his experience of exile in England, intertwining personal stories and historical events, including fascism, World War II, the Resistance, and the post-war period.
The narration, performed by Martina Pittarello and Vasco Mirandola, with soundscapes curated by Gabriele Grotto, develops through excerpts from some of Meneghello's most significant works, including Libera nos a malo, I piccoli maestri, Pomo pero, and Fiori italiani.
The performance offers a journey through literature, theater, and memory, enhancing the irony, linguistic richness, and connection to the territory that characterize the author's literary production.
The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Monselice and GAL Patavino Scarl, as part of the project “From the Hills to the Adige,” funded by the Regional Complement for Rural Development of Veneto 2023-2027.
