On the occasion of the weekend dedicated to women, UP&DOWN VIAGGI offers a unique journey to discover the women of ancient Este, a trip through history, archaeology, and female memory.
The tour, lasting approximately an hour and a half, begins at the National Atestino Museum, where participants can admire artifacts, burial goods, and testimonies that tell the story of women's lives in Roman and Venetian times. Among these, the figure of Nerka stands out, a prominent woman whose story emerges from her burial goods, along with other women whose silent but significant lives tell us much about the role of women in ancient Este.
The journey continues at the archaeological digs on Via Santo Stefano, where one can directly observe the sites of burial and memory, thus completing the narrative begun in the museum's halls. Here, history takes shape in the very places where the women of the past lived and were remembered, creating an immersive and engaging experience. An opportunity to look at the past with a new perspective, to grasp traces of identity and female memory, and to rediscover the strength and value of the women of yesterday, which still lives on in our memory today.
