La Loggia dei Vicari

Location: Arquà Petrarca

Historically linked to the Oratorio of the Holy Trinity. Of 14th-century origin, it welcomed the heads of families at the sound of the bell to discuss community issues with the Vicar: it was accessed from the square through a large arch. In 1828 the roof was demolished, leaving the loggia uncovered. In a niche of the wall of the vicar's dwelling, there is still a 14th-century fresco, by an unknown artist, depicting Saint Julian who, unaware, kills his parents, and the offering kneeling and praying. The Vicar's house, already in ruins in the 18th century, was probably located where a tavern now stands. On the walls of the Loggia, some coats of arms placed by the Vicars at the end of their term have remained.
