A journey through history, charm, and timeless atmospheres in the heart of Este. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the appointment is with “In Villa sotto le Stelle,” the special evening guided tour at Villa Vigna Contarena, an elegant residence that stands right in front of the walls of the Carrarese Castle.
Built in the 14th century by the noble Venetian family of the Contarini degli Scrigni as a hunting lodge and place of leisure, the villa owes the design of the main building to the architect Vincenzo Scamozzi. Over the centuries, the complex was expanded to include the charming “Secret Garden,” one of the very rare Persian-style gardens in Italy.
Accompanied by the light of the sunset, participants will discover the most fascinating areas of the property: the villa, the historic park, and, exclusively, the ancient large kitchen and the mysterious underground passages.
