From November 29, 2025, to January 6, 2026, Este will once again transform into the City of Christmas, with events and appointments that create a bright, lively atmosphere full of magic. For over a month, streets and squares will be animated by markets, shows, music, exhibitions, workshops, concerts, and all those traditions that are part of Christmas in Este.
The heart of the event will be, as always, Piazza Maggiore, where from November 22, the ecological skating rink returns, larger than in previous years, open every day with extended hours during the holidays. On weekends, it will also be animated by music and themed evenings. Next to it, the traditional Horse Carousel for the little ones.
There will be no shortage of nativity scenes, with the new edition of the traditional exhibition "Este nei Presepi" at the Sala Pescheria, the evocative Nativity Scene of Porta Vecchia, suspended over the Bisatto canal, and the ever-beloved Mechanical Artistic Nativity Scene of Motta d’Este.
The historic center will come alive every weekend with traditional Christmas markets, but also with street bands, bagpipes, zampogna, street performers, and itinerant performances. Families and children will find a rich offering of activities: creative workshops in the Elves' House (Palazzo Sartori Borotto in Piazza Trento), dance shows, and small performances inspired by Christmas.
Do not miss the Great Santa Claus Parade on December 7, with arrival on a vintage truck accompanied by folk bands and the Vespa Club. Among the events is the now traditional Santa Claus Race on December 21 and the original bike ride "Renne in Sella" on December 28, now in its third edition.
Music will play a major role: from the Summertime Choir concert at the Cathedral to the Christmas Concert by Orchestres d’Harmonie - Banda Comunale di Lozzo Atestino, alongside the traditional Christmas concert by the San Filippo Neri Choir, to musical performances in churches and squares.
There are also theatrical performances planned, such as those in the “Metti una sera a...teatro” and “A Teatro con Mamma e Papà” series, events dedicated to the little ones at the Library, and the traditional events of the new year, like the Befana Festival in Piazza Guariento and the Epiphany Concert.
