Thibaut, a world-renowned conductor residing in Meudon, collapses during a rehearsal. He is diagnosed with acute leukemia and thus begins the search for a bone marrow donor within his family, until a DNA test reveals to him that he has been adopted. He discovers that he has a younger biological brother, Jimmy, who lives in their mother’s hometown in northern France.
Representing his best hope for a transplant, Thibaut decides to meet him. Jimmy is his complete opposite, a modest school cafeteria employee, but what unites them is their love for music and a fortunate coincidence: Jimmy is indeed part of the municipal band, where he plays the trombone. The band, engaged in a competition, has just lost its conductor, therefore providing an opportunity for Thibaut.
