The area, classified as ZPS (special protection zone), is one of the last and rare examples of wet forest that, even in medieval times, covered part of the marshy areas of the Lower Padua. It consists of a forested-swampy area of about four thousand square meters, where a wide variety of animal and floral species find refuge. It is made up of a long floodplain strip between the Garzone river and the Masina canal located near the municipalities of S. Urbano, Villa Estense, and Granze di Vescovana.
