On the western ridge of the Euganean Hills lies the town of Vo' Vecchio, dominated by the superb Villa Contarini Giovanelli Venier.
The villa stands in a privileged location of boundary and passage, which since the Middle Ages – and perhaps even earlier – has represented a sort of gateway between the Berici Hills and the Euganean Hills. The construction of the villa dates back most likely to the late 16th century, with modifications and expansions made in the subsequent centuries. In the 19th century, the property passed to the Giovanelli-Venier family, who carried out significant renovations and modernization, changing the orientation of the main facade, which was shifted from the side towards the square to the southern side, facing the farm buildings.
The visit, in addition to the historical and cultural insight related to the vicissitudes of the historic residence and its inhabitants, will include a subsequent visit to the Parco del Venda winery with an explanation of the production processes related to winemaking.
At the end of the cultural and educational tour, a tasting of DOC wines from the Euganean Hills is planned, accompanied by local products, perfect for the time of the aperitif.
There will also be the opportunity for participants to purchase the fine wines from the winery.
A single visit time is planned, starting at 15:00. The duration of the visit, including the aperitif, will be about 2 hours.
A contribution of € 14 per participant is requested (€ 12 for members).
